MORNING LIVESTOCK FUTURES OUTLOOK
CATTLE COMPLEX
Live cattle spreads have been bear spread and should reverse Monday. Live cattle likely to open $3.00 to $4.00 plus higher and feeder cattle up $5.00 to $6.00 plus. Both could go limit higher by the end of the day.
Placements remain very low, down 10%. It’s bullish. Marketings down on the low side of the estimates add to bullishness. Live cattle futures have been trading lower during September because beef prices have dropped, and the futures were trading on what was happening on the current beef market and not the anticipated futures market.
PORK COMPLEX
Except for the October/December lean hog spread with October narrowing the difference between lower futures and higher cash, spreads from December into 2026 futures widened bear spreads this week indicating an increase of hogs.
