MORNING LIVESTOCK FUTURES OUTLOOK
CATTLE COMPLEX
Tuesday was another light to moderate trading day, turn around Tuesday and quick profits after Monday’s new contract highs for June and August and highs for the move for October on out.
Select beef is trading over choice beef. The only choice product higher than its corresponding select cut that is higher are loins. Moving ahead into spring, expect select beef to remain strong as consumers turn off ovens, buy quick cooking beef, ground beef, and with higher gas prices, the consumer will want to buy cheaper beef.
LEAN HOG COMPLEX
April 2026 lean hog futures are $0.84 over the CME Lean Hog Index.
Packers are keeping slaughter down trying to support pork prices.
