Livestock Outlook Mixed


There was a little activity on Live Cattle futures Monday, but other than specs playing in the market, mostly spreading, trading was dull. There are the longs that are using the cash to futures spread from $10 to  $20 over the board and shorts looking at the backup of cattle and dropping beef market to sell.


Pork carcass down 7.16  Monday with continuing  big ups and downs on primal cuts. Loins were up Friday up 18.99 but on Monday fell 25.41 , hams down 17.77 on Friday and down just  2.76, butts down 22.94 and Monday down 1.76. Bellies were up .34 on Friday and up 6.930 Monday.  Picnics were down 8.07 and ribs down 2.90 on Monday.

Pork industry is trying to figure out what China will do going forward. Last three weeks their exports were relatively low compared to first 4 months of 2020.
